6th Golden Rum Barrel Awards

Many of you will have enjoyed the 2018 UK Rumfest at the ILEC, London. It is an event that is always enjoyable and educational and is where those new to the Rum world and those considered ‘geeks’ enjoy a wide array of Rums from around the world. This year we attended the 6th Golden Rum Barrel Awards as part of our Rumfest weekend. The event took place at the Holiday Inn Kensington and was attended by many of the Rum industry producers, ambassadors, influencers and legends.

What is always apparent in the Rum industry is that feeling of friendship and family which was demonstrated when our table was kindly given a bottle of Worthy Park to enjoy.

The evening consisted of a fantastic Caribbean themed meal followed by the main awards. It was extra special for us as we knew some of the nominees well.

The eventual winners were:

Rum Ambassador of the year – Peter Holland 

UK Rum Bar of the year – Trailer Happiness

Rum Restaurant /Group of the year – Rum Kitchen

International Rum Advocate of the year – Luca Gargano

UK Rum Advocate of the year – Peter Holland

Rum Writer/Website of the year – Steven James – Rum Diaries Blog

International Craft Rum of the year – Worthy Park Single Estate Reserve

UK Craft Rum of the year – Greensland Ridge Single Pot Rum

Best British Rum brand – Neptune Rum

Rum and Re’al Bartender of the year – Des Yatigammana
